We have already forgotten 9/11

Dear editor:

September 11, 2001: We will never forget. But how soon we do!

Words are just that: words. Here it is 11 years since that fateful day, and flags are not at half-staff in Thorsby at town hall or the Thorsby Fire Dept. There are only two flags flying from residences on either Frank St. or Third St. The only flag at half-staff is at the post office.

So far, I’ve not seen one mention of 9/11 in the The Clanton Advertiser, either. Maybe I just missed it—or at least I hope I did. The apathy we display as individuals, a city, state and nation is abhorrent; and it’s only been 11 years. We have already forgotten!
