FRIDAY NIGHT’S ACTION
Isabella at Central-Coosa
Coach Scott Booth might have his best team in his third season back at Isabella, the school he took to the semifinal round of the state playoffs in 2002. The defense might have caught up with the explosive offense; if so, it could be an enjoyable year.
Pick: Isabella
Billingsley at Prattville Christian
A talented Billingsley team should give Prattville Christian a rude welcome to the Alabama High School Athletic Association. Prattville Christian formerly competed in the Alabama Independent School Association, going 3-9 last season.
Pick: Billingsley
Verbena at Thorsby
The last few meetings, this rivalry game to begin the season has gone a long way toward determining what kind of seasons the respective teams can expect. Look for Thorsby to be the team that starts out on the right foot in 2012.
Pick: Thorsby
Maplesville at Winterboro
Winterboro lost only two games last season and should be a force again in 2012. And the Bulldogs are hosting Maplesville. It won’t matter. This could be a special year for the Red Devils.
Pick: Maplesville
Picks record: 1-0
