Grand jury adjourns
In other court news, the grand jury adjourned on July 27.
According to its report, the grand jury investigated 271 cases and returned 160 true bills.
The report reads that the grand jury found local officers “well prepared and professional,” and the Chilton County Jail in “good working order.”
The grand jury expressed concern about the Chilton County Courthouse’s lack of available space, though, and encouraged the county commission to examine the possibility of constructing a new courthouse.
Also reviewed were the Examiner’s of Public Accounts audits on the Office of Circuit and District Courts, the Board of Chiropractic Examiners State of Alabama, the Mental Health Board of Chilton and Shelby Counties Inc., the Chilton County Commission (Oct. 1, 2008 through Sept. 30, 2010). No indictable offenses were found.
