Humane Society to host Dottie Day July 14

The Chilton County Humane Society will be hosting its first ever “Dottie Day” July 14, at Goosepond Park.
The event will begin at 7 a.m. and will have a 5K race, a cutest/ugliest pet contest, live music and an auction held at Clanton Country Club to close out the event at 8 p.m.
CCHS director Scott Missildine said the idea came from a familiar source.
“One of our board members had an idea to have an event specifically for the Humane Society,” he said. “We have a Dalmatian outfit we call Dottie, so [that’s where the name came from].”
Missildine also said the goal was to raise awareness not only for the shelter, but pet care as well.
“It’s about animals in general-pet awareness, and to let people know we’re here,” he said.
The shelter is also looking for donations of supplies, such as bleach, paper towels, cat litter and others.
