Petals will host 10th annual “Black and Blue” Berry Festival

Petals from the Past is hosting its 10th annual “Black and Blue” Berry Festival Saturday, June 16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Petals from the Past owner, Jason Powell, is looking forward to another successful festival, despite this year’s mild winter (which caused blackberries to be two weeks early this year). This means that, while there will be blackberries, there will not be nearly as many as usual.
Though the blackberries may have already run their course, Powell says that there are still plenty of blueberries to go around.
The festival will also feature Petals’ U-Pick style harvesting and a black and blue berry recipe contest. Kids can enjoy a petting zoo, pony rides, tractor rides and face painting.
In addition to activities for the kids, there will be live music by Valley Road Blue Grass from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Dr. Arlie Powell will host a discussion on growing berries from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
There will be food vendors in the gardens, and Personnal Appearance Catering will be serving lunch in the barn so guests are encouraged to arrive early.
All ages are welcome, but pets are not.
