The Clanton Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 31 will be hosting its fourth annual bike ride on Saturday, June 9 at 8 a.m.
The motorcycle ride begins in Clanton and ends at the Talladega Superspeedway, where riders will be able to do a lap on the track and have their pictures made on their bikes in Victory Lane.
Clanton Police Chief Brian Stilwell, who is also F.O.P. treasurer, said, “We have had an outstanding response this year and have over 100 bikes pre-registered for Saturday’s event. This event gets larger every year.”
The riders plan to leave around 8:45 a.m. and will be taking a short break in Childersburg on the way to Talladega.
The ride will return to Goosepond Park in Clanton for food, live music and door prizes. The grand prize will be two tickets, including pit passes, to the Fall NASCAR Sprint Cup Race at Talladega.
Warren Garris, President of F.O.P. Lodge No. 31, and Tina Garris are organizing the event.
If anyone would like to pre-register, Tina Garris can be contacted at 205-351-2718. If not, riders can show up Saturday morning in the old Food Fair parking lot located at 2112 Seventh St. N. (U.S. Highway 31) in Clanton.
The cost of the ride is $25 per bike, which will benefit F.O.P.’s charity “Operation Santa Claus,” which provides Christmas gifts for children in need.
If anyone is unable to attend but would like to donate, checks and money orders can be sent to Clanton F.O.P. #31, P.O. Box 2332, Clanton, Al. 35046.
