The aunt of a 2-year-old who was struck by a vehicle Tuesday described his condition Thursday as “critical but stable.”

Emmanuel Jackson was struck by a pickup truck on Chilton County Road 54 in Montevallo about 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday. His family’s residence is near the road, Chilton County Sheriff Kevin Davis said.

Donna Johnson, Jackson’s aunt, said he has already undergone one surgery and has several injuries still to be addressed.

“The parents have asked that people not come to the hospital at this time so that they can focus all their attention on his recovery,” Johnson said.

The circumstances surrounding the incident aren’t clear. State troopers are investigating.
