Spent weekend and after weekend working in the yard this spring?

The annual beautification awards given in Clanton next month might be the chance to get some recognition for your hours of dirty work.

Clanton’s Beautification and Tree Board will again present their annual awards in categories like business, historical, residential and most improved.

Nominations are now being sought. Anyone interested in nominating someone for an award should contact Clanton City Hall at (205) 755-4051.

Judges will consider nominations in the next few weeks, and finalize their decisions the week after Mother’s Day, May 13. Residents are encouraged to spruce up their yards the week before in anticipation of the contest.

Yards and other spaces will be judged on the following point system: up to 50 points for overall appearance and up to 10 points in color variety, landscaping, neatness of home and yard, well-groomed and structural appearance.
