A man died Wednesday following a forklift accident at a Clanton business.

Clanton Fire Chief David Driver said his department was dispatched at 7:29 a.m. to a call that a forklift had fallen on a worker at Alabama Forklift, Inc.

The victim had “very serious injuries” when first responders arrived, Driver said. The department called for a air evacuation but was told that the helicopter could not fly.

The man was taken by ambulance to Chilton Medical Center and then transported to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital. He later died either in route to or at UAB.
