Born in 1920, died Feb. 6, 2012. She was 92 years old.
Elizabeth was a generous, strong and beautiful woman. She went to junior college when she was 30 to study accounting. She had two children at the time, and then worked to help support the family while her husband finished his degree in engineering.
She was a great cook, avid gardener, expert seamstress and continued to manage the family finances all her life. When she was 40, she also learned to waterski! She also loved to go to the flea market later in life.
Her husband, John D. Robbins, died in 2003. She is survived by her children, John David Robbins, Jr. (Sheila) of Columbia, S.C. and Naomi Robbins Ray of Sedona, Ariz. Her grandchildren are Elizabeth Robbins Edwards (Alan) of Lexington, S.C.; Rebecca Robbins Derrick (James) of Mt. Airy, N.C.; Paige Wright Phillips (Jeremy) of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Mark Hamman Ray (Evelyn) of Manassas, Va. She also had 10 great-grandchildren.
She and our father were members of the Greatest Generation—surviving the Depression, living through World War II, always voting and contributing to life in a remarkable way.
Thank you Mother. We love you and will miss you greatly.
The family requests you honor Elizabeth with a contribution to your favorite charity instead of flowers.
