John Edgar “Junior” Porter, age 82 of Clanton, passed away on Jan. 4, 2012, at his residence.

He was born in Shelby County on Feb. 3, 1929, the son of the late William Edgar Porter and the late Lillie Mae Bice Porter.

Mr. Porter worked as a brick mason.

He is survived by: daughter, Karen (Larry) Reeser of Clanton; daughter, Sharon (Gary) Spearman of Clanton; son, Johnny Porter of Clanton; son, Stanley (Shelia) Porter of Jemison; son, Gregory (Stephanie) Porter of Clanton; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Floyd Porter of Clanton; brother, Elmer Porter of Clanton; sister, Wilma Hines of Prattville; sister, Barbara Hayes of Thorsby; sister, Betty Rawlinson of Jemison; sister, Ann Plier of Jemison

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 5 from 5-8 p.m. at Ellison-Mims Funeral Home in Clanton.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. from the Memorial Chapel of Ellison-Mims Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Earl Hilyer and the Rev. David Farris officiating.

Burial will follow in Robinson Springs Cemetery in Clanton.
