A body was found in a car burning Saturday morning off County Road 762 outside Clanton.

Chilton County E911 received a call Saturday at 9:36 a.m. concerning a fire in the 200 block of CR 762.

Chilton County Sheriff’s Office deputies and firefighters from East Chilton Fire and Rescue responded to the scene.

When the first deputy arrived on the scene, the four-door car was fully involved in flames, according to the sheriff’s office. A body was soon discovered inside the car.

The person’s race or sex was immediately known Saturday. The fire was extinguished and sheriff’s office investigators started working the case.

Personnel from the Clanton Fire Department, Alabama Fire Marshal’s Office and the Chilton County Coroner’s Office were also on the scene.
