Brackets have been set for this year’s Chilton County basketball tournaments.
The seeding was done Wednesday at a meeting of county coaches and athletic directors.
Jemison enters the boys tournament as the No. 1 seed, while unbeaten Verbena grabbed the top spot in the girls field.
Both tournament brackets, as usual, were set up to include the two top teams receiving byes.
In the boys tournament, No. 2 seed Maplesville grabbed the bye opposite Jemison. The Red Devils will play the winner of the game between Chilton County (No. 3 seed) and Isabella (6).
Jemison will play the winner of Verbena (4) and Thorsby (5).
Verbena’s girls will play the winner of the Isabella (4)-Jemison (5) game.
Second-seeded Thorsby, meanwhile, will play the winner of the Chilton County (3)-Maplesville (6) game.
The tournaments will be hosted by Chilton County High School on Jan. 9-14.
Games will be played each weekday except Wednesday after school, and championship games for the boys, girls and B-teams will be played on the evening of Saturday, Jan. 14.
In the B-team tournament, Maplesville (4) will play Isabella (5) in what amounts to a play-in game. The winner would face top-seeded Jemison in one semifinal game, while Chilton County (2) and Verbena (3) play on the other side of the bracket.
Recipients of the Craig Honeycutt Scholarship, and members of the coaches’ all-county football team, were decided at the meeting. Those honors will be announced during the basketball tournament.
