Christmas cantata Dec. 10
Published 7:55 pm Thursday, December 1, 2011
Clanton First United Methodist Church will be a busy place during the Christmas holidays.
There will be a wide variety of services and programs celebrating the birth of Christ beginning with an Advent program presented by the children’s choir at 6 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 4, in the main sanctuary.
On Saturday, Dec. 10, at 6 p.m., the chancel choir, accompanied by a small orchestra, will present the Christmas cantata, Lead Me Back to Bethlehem, by Pepper Choplin. This service will be held in the Helen E. Parrish Activity Center on the church campus where dinner will be served by DV8, the CFUMC youth group.
While this service will be free and open to everyone in the community, guests will be asked to reserve tickets in order to assist in planning for food service. Ticket information is available by calling the church office at 755-0490 or by emailing Lynn Best at: secretary@clantonfumc.org.
DV8 will hold its Christmas service in the main sanctuary at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11. There will be music, speaking, caroling and a bell choir – something for everyone. These young people minister to the community in a number of ways throughout the year, and this program will be another example of their ministry.
Two Christmas Eve communion services will be celebrated in the main sanctuary on Saturday, Dec. 24, at 5 and 6:30, and there will be one Christmas Day worship service at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 25, also in the main sanctuary.
The family of Clanton First United Methodist Church welcomes everyone in the community to join them in celebrating Christmas at any or all of these services.
If your church has a special Christmas program or service planned, please email details to news@clantonadvertiser.com or call (205) 755-5747.
