A two-month long investigation by Clanton Police Department’s narcotics detectives netted eight arrests in a drug bust.
At approximately 6 p.m. Thursday, CPD officers executed a search warrant on a residence in the 1100 block of First Ave. During the search, a “significant” amount of crack cocaine, marijuana, synthetic marijuana, drug paraphernalia and money was found, according to Clanton Police Chief Brian Stilwell.
In total, eight individuals were arrested at the house Thursday evening.
Kenecia Aljira Caffee, Laura Mae Works, Rebecca Ann Lee, Sonya Denise Nix, Terry Dewayne Bailey, Thomas Earl Davis and Torey Morrell Reese were each charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of marijuana second degree. They were arrested and given bonds totaling $6,500 each.
Rafeki Tyshon Underwood was charged with possession of a controlled substance and given a $5,000 bond.
Stilwell said the department investigation and subsquent arrests came after tips for the public.
“We have been getting numerous complaints from the community concerning drug activity at this residence,” Stilwell said.
