Men from seven Baptist churches around Maplesville, who call themselves the West Chilton Brotherhood, recently worked to put a new roof over Grace Pickron's mobile home.

Grace Pickron said she didn’t know what to do when a heavy downpour of rain caused the roof of her mobile home to collapse this summer.

“I told the Lord that it was in His hands, for Him to show me the way,” said Pickron.

“A couple of men from a nearby Baptist church came by and cut some tarps over my home to save what they could.”

A few weeks later, Pickron said the West Chilton Brotherhood, a group of men from seven Baptist churches around Maplesville, called Pickron and offered help.

It took a few weeks to get all the material together for a new roof over her mobile home, but on Oct. 1, Pickron said her prayers were answered.

“It was great to see God’s plan come together,” she said.

She and her family would like to thank everyone who helped build the roof, as well as financial support she received from the local churches.

“We were still a little short on money to finish the project,” said Leonard Atchison, president of West Chilton Brotherhood. “A local businessman—I will call him an angel with a checkbook—came by and he balanced the budget.”
