Tigers sweep JHS in last match of season

Chilton County’s volleyball team swept rival Jemison, 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-23) on Tuesday in both teams’ last match of the regular season.

The win improves CCHS’s record to 9-15.

After winning the first two sets handily, Jemison scrapped back from a 24-17 deficit to tie the final set at 24.

Host Chilton rallied to win the next two points and the match.

Keondra Looney paced the Chilton County attack, recorded seven aces and four kills for the Tigers.

Kacy Sanders assisted on 14 of Chilton’s points.

Kayla Ray posted five aces and four kills on the night, and Keona DeJarnett had five kills and three aces.

For Jemison, Lauren Price had eight assists.

Denten Ellison accounted for several of those points as she finished with six kills.

Shelby Griffin was next with four kills.

Morgan Lucas led the Panther defense with five digs. Teammate Lauren Crosby had four digs.

Area tournament play begins next week.
