Care Net’s Executive Director, Deanna Crist, spoke to the Rotary Club of Chilton County on Wednesday as part of the process of promoting the organization’s upcoming banquet.

The banquet, scheduled for Oct. 20 at Jemison’s Municipal Complex auditorium, is Care Net’s most significant fundraiser.

“Everything we do is free,” Crist said. “Everything is funded by donors— individuals and churches.”

Crist, who has been in her position since March, stressed to the Rotary Club at a regular meeting at Grand Ole Café the need for such an organization in Chilton County.

Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center of Chilton County is a “non-profit, Christ-centered ministry committed to upholding the sanctity of human life by demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ to women and their families facing unplanned pregnancies,” according to information distributed by Crist.

The non-profit organization provides counseling and medical services to women facing unplanned pregnancies. One recently added service is being able to perform ultrasounds.

“Whatever resources they need, we want to be able to provide that,” Crist said.

Crist told Rotarians that Care Net has seen about 800 women since it opened in 2006, and about 150 already this year.

The Rotary Club of Chilton County donated $1,500 to Care Net last year.
