Accident claims life of Birmingham mom, infant son

An 18-year-old Birmingham woman and her 10-month-old son died in an accident Thursday evening after their car collided with a dump truck.
Randreaita Coleman and her son, Carter, were killed when her vehicle left the southbound lane, crossed the median and struck the truck.
Investigators determined that Coleman was texting while driving, according to state troopers.
The driver of the truck, Robert Paulk, 45, of Ramer was transported to Baptist Medical Center South by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
No other information about the accident is available at the time.
Troopers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
