Jill Vinzant was crowned the 2011 Peach Queen on Thursday night, joining an elite group of young women to earn three Peach Pageant titles.
Vinzant was also the 2002 Little Miss Peach and 2009 Junior Miss Peach. Only two other contestants, Jessica Traywick and Ashlee Maddox, have won as many pageants; both those women also eventually became Peach Queen.
“I was shocked; I was surprised,” Vinzant said after her crowning Thursday at Chilton County High School.
Vinzant is the 16-year-old daughter of Martie and Shannon Vinzant and a student at Jemison High School. Chilton Twirl and Dance sponsored her.
She said being a Peach Queen previously helped prepare her for this year’s pageant, and she looks forward to serving Chilton County another year.
“It never gets old,” said Vinzant.
She said she particularly looks forward to this year, as Peach Queen, representing Chilton County and its peach farmers.
In another unique twist on this year’s pageant, Vinzant and Young Miss Peach Grace Nolen will be peach sisters again this year. The pair previously served as Junior Miss Peach and Little Miss Peach in 2009.
“It won’t be the same without Keela (Ray, 2009 Peach Queen) and Anna (Calhoun, 2009 Young Miss Peach), but I look forward to spending another year with Grace and getting to know the other girls,” said Vinzant.
Halle Sullivan is the 2011 Little Miss Peach, and Lexi Gray is this year’s Junior Miss Peach.
Vinzant’s court included first alternate Candace Pierce, second alternate Leigh-Anna Shavers, third alternate Brianna Veazey and fourth alternate Kandice Cleckler.
Vinzant also won the evening’s swimwear segment. Candace Pierce won Miss Congeniality, and Erika Campbell won the new Viewers’ Choice category.
