Peach Jam expects record number of vendors

More vendors will set up shop at this year’s Peach Jam Jubilee than ever in the event’s six-year history.
Mike Robertson, director of the Chilton County Chamber of Commerce, told chamber members Tuesday that so far 127 vendors have signed up to have a booth at the Peach Jam.
“We’ll have more (vendors) than we have ever had before,” Robertson said.
The Peach Jam will be Friday, June 24, starting at 4 p.m. and ending around 10.
The Chamber sponsors the annual event, which is part concert and part street fair. Apart from the food, arts/crafts and other vendors, there will be a playground area for children as well as a video game bus for older kids.
Several local entertainment acts are set to perform, while Southern Pride will take to the stage at 6 and headliners The Tip Tops at 7.
A fireworks show will follow their concert, which will end at approximately 9:40.
“We have a good line-up and a good event,” said Robertson.
One of the biggest changes concerning the Peach Jam is its location. This year’s festivities were moved to the youth league football field at Clanton City Park. In past years, the event has been held in downtown Clanton.
At the time the move was announced, organizers said the move provided the Peach Jam with room to grow and wouldn’t interfere with downtown businesses, parking and traffic.
The Chamber is still seeking sponsorships for the event, Robertson said. Peach Jam T-shirts are also available at the Chamber office on Fifth Avenue North for $10.
