Carl Lee Popwell, 64, of Clanton died Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at Chilton Medical Center in Clanton.

He was born Sunday, Sept. 29, 1946, in Chilton County, son of the late James David Popwell and the late Virginia Caton Popwell.

He was a crew leader with Alabama Power Company.

Surviving are his wife, Dorrise Popwell of Clanton; two daughters, Carla (Joey) Wilson and Amberly (Gary) Woods; two sons, Tim (Connie) Popwell and Anthony Popwell; 10 grandchildren, Joseph Wilson, Jacob (Adrienne) Wilson, Anna Wilson, Jaylen Coggins, Bailey Coggins, Emily Woods, Savanna Woods, Lindsey Popwell, Brady Popwell and Cheyanne Popwell; great-grandchildren, Hayden and Kelton Wilson; great-grandchild, Sarah Wooldridge; three sisters, Jackie (Herman) Staggs, Anita (Rickey) Smitherman and Bernice (Ray) Jones; and two brothers, David Popwell and James Earl (Betty) Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Virginia Popwell.

Services will be held Friday, June 10 at 11 a.m. at Samaria Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Nobles and the Rev. Mike Lawrence officiating.

Interment will follow in Bethany Baptist Cemetery in Verbena.
