John Dewey Giles, 70, of Clanton died Friday, April 15, 2011, at his residence in Thorsby.
He was born on Tuesday, March 18, 1941, in Chilton County, son of the late Cecil Giles and the late Edna Cleckler Giles.
He was a building construction superintendent.
Surviving are his wife, Ruthie J. Giles of Thorsby; two sons, Eddie (Kerri) Giles of Thorsby and Ron (Tina) Giles of Thorsby; daughter, Lisa (Mark) Lovett of Greenville; five grandchildren, Johnathan Lovett, Amber Carlee, Britney Mims, Hunter Giles and Morgan Giles; five great grandchildren, Jacob Lovett, Katie Lovett, Layton Mims, Landon Mims and Emily Giles; brother, Chris Giles of Clanton; and three sisters, Pat Driver of Rockford, Sue Williams of Clanton and Doris Guy of Jemison.
Services were held Sunday, April 17 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church No. 1 with the Rev. Thomas Earl Hilyer and the Rev. Derrell Jones officiating.
Interment followed in Mt. Carmel Baptist No. 1 Cemetery.
