Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Jemision is hosting its 7th Annual Military Program on Saturday, February 26, 2011.

The program, hosted by the church’s youth group, looks to honor anyone who has had experience with the armed forces.

“If [anybody] had anything to do with the military, they’re invited,” said event coordinator Ethel Atchison. “We really want people to come out. This is our way of showing we care.”

Guest speaker Rev. Elvin B. Thompson, a retired 1st Sgt in the US Army, and his brother, Master of Order CW4 Kelvin G. Thompson will host the program.

The program’s main attraction is the Wall of Recognition that has the names and photos of over 500 veterans. To attain a place on the wall, the church asks that people submit a small military biography and photo.

While a uniform is not required to attend, Atchison said that seeing all those who have served the country in their military attire is captivating.

“To look and see the men and women in their uniforms,” said Atchison, “is awesome.”

The program starts at 5 p.m. For more information call Shiloh Missionary Baptist, at 688-4031.
