Charles Virgil Wilhite Sr., 78, of Verbena died Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at Prattville Baptist Hospital in Prattville.

He was born Saturday, June 18, 1932, in Walker County, son of the late Olen Wilhite and the late Swansie Pate Wilhite.

He was a mechanic.

Surviving are his two sons, Charles V. (Kathy) Wilhite Jr. of Verbena and Richard (Audrey) Wilhite of Mooresville, NC; two daughters, Deborah Wilhite (Johnny Hillestad) of Birmingham and Marie (Don) Odom of Birmingham; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lois Phifer of Parrish and Eunice Yates of Parrish.

Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 29 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Thursday, Dec. 30 at 1 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ken Chandler and Roger Vines officiating.

Interment will follow in Martin Memorial Cemetery in Clanton. Martin Funeral Home directing.
