Joe Douglas Mims, 73, of Verbena died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010.

He was born Saturday, July 3, 1937, in Chilton County, son of the late Odis Lee Mims and the late Dovie Mae Adams Mims.

He was a sheet metal worker.

Surviving are his two daughters, Charlene Mims (Tom Clemons) of Prattville and Kennetha Mims (Morris) Wilson of Verbena; five grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; sister, Patricia Mims of Clanton; and two brothers, Wendell Mims of Clanton and Mike Mims of Clanton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Dean Mims.

Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 9 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Friday, Dec. 10 at 1 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tony Christensen officiating.

Interment will follow in Martin Memorial Cemetery in Clanton.
