“Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven. Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; withal praying also for us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man” (Colossians 4:1–6).
Thought for the week: “The Prayer Perfect”
“Dear Lord! Kind Lord! Gracious Lord I pray thou wilt look on all I love, tenderly today! Weed their hearts of weariness; scatter every care down a wake of angel-wings winnowing the air. Bring unto the sorrowing all release from pain; let the lips of laughter overflow again; and with all the needy O divide, I pray, this vast treasure of content that is mine today!”
Worship services at Holly Grove Baptist Church in Jemison began with praise singing, prayer and scripture by the praise team. Songs sung included, “This Little Light of Mine,” “We Come This Far By Faith” and “I Never Lost My Hope and Praise.” The scripture was read by Charles Arrington with prayer by Pastor Dukes, Shun Bailey and Kevin Nunn.
Pastor Dukes brought the message his theme, “Free Refill.” Elisha, a prophet of God, preached to kings, telling them there would be no May rain. The king ran him off, but God had a raven to feed him and water from a brook. God takes care of his own. When the water dried up, God told him to go see a widow woman who would take care of him. He blessed Elisha and the widow woman with free refills. The barrel never gave out of grain.
God will bless us if we follow his directions. Here is how to get free refills. Do what God said to do. Be honest if you don’t have it; be honest in all things. Remember, God is still blessing folks. Be willing to hear and trust God. Be willing to serve him and give your last to God. The widow woman was. This is how you get free refills. Depend on God and he will make a way; he kept her during tough times.
The service concluded with remarks by Pastor Dukes.
