“The Lord hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee; Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion; remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah. Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfill all thy counsel. We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the Lord fulfill all thy petitions” (Psalm 20:1-5).
Thought for the week: “Lessons Learned”
“Glean what you can from every day, be it joy or sorrow that comes your way. For life is full of lessons learned, in these we grow at every turn. He gives us strength for every day, trust in Him and always pray.”
The Rev. and Mrs. Elbert Simon will celebrate his Pastor’s Appreciation as pastor of St. James Community Church in Jemison on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at 3 p.m. The Rev. Donald L. Worship service at Holly Grove Baptist Church in Jemison began with praise service led by the male chorus in prayer, songs and scripture. The scripture was read by Courtney Nunn with prayer by Pastor Dukes and Kevin Nunn. Songs sung included, “Glad To Be In This Service,” “Lord Don’t Do It Without Me” and “Hallelujah, Salvation and Glory.”
The message was given by Pastor Dukes. His theme was “How To Get a Miracle To Happen In Your Life.” If you can fix it, it is not a miracle. Learn how to get a miracle from God (John 2:1-10). A miracle is when God does for man what he can’t do for himself — when you get saved, that is a miracle. Jesus came that we might have life more abundantly.
These are needs for a miracle: 1) Jesus — invite him in your situation: invite him to your party of life, he can see what’s needed in your life; 2) There has to be a need. When Jesus requests something, do it; 3) There must be faith and an opportunity for God to fix things for us to better serve him. Do exactly what he says to make the miracle happen. Fill the pots to the brim.
To get a miracle, sometimes you have to do something and have faith. Don’t miss the opportunity.
Remarks and benediction were led by Pastor Dukes.
On our sick list this week we ask you to remember in your prayers: Jerry Wilson, Lorenzo Griffin, Margaret Cooper, Lee Anna Worthey, Queen Worthey, Stanley Frazier, Joseph McCall, Sam and Vivian Hicks. May God heal, strengthen and keep them in His care is our prayer.
