The Clanton Fire Department held a practice drill Tuesday using their ladder truck.

The exercise was designed to give firefighters experience raising and lowering the ladder in confined spaces.

Fire Chief David Driver said the practice will pay off not only in rescuing people from the top stories of buildings, but also when lowering the ladder down ravines, below bridges or other places people can drive down.

The drill was held between the Chilton County Courthouse and First Baptist Church.
