Adopt-or-Treat planned

This Halloween, the Humane Society is offering a treat for animals and children as well.

The Humane Society is inviting everyone to “Humane Adopt-or-Treat” Saturday, Oct. 30, from 4– 9 p.m.

“The purpose of this event is to increase community relations and to stimulate adoptions,” said Joe Murphy, director.

Last year, board and family members attended the event, and it received huge support from the community.

The society will have reduced adoptions fees: dogs $80 and cats $65 Oct. 25-30.

“This is our second year doing this,” said Murphy. “We are trying to give people who have been thinking about adopting a little more incentive to do so.”

The shelter’s staff will be dressed in costumes for the occasion, and some of the animals will be dressed in Halloween costumes as well.

“This is my staff’s favorite,” said Murphy. “They have already decorated the place.”

Refreshments will be served during the event, and candy will be handed out to the children.

“Hopefully, we can have a good turnout like last year – or exceed it,” said Murphy. “I would like to see a few more adoptions.”

During this event, the Humane Society will not be accepting drop-offs.
