The Peach Queen billboard, a familiar site for drivers along Interstate 65, once again greets people passing through Chilton County.
This year’s newly installed billboard can be found between Exits 208 and 212, facing the northbound lanes.
The Clanton Lions Club took over the sign this year, which in past years has shown the Peach Queens with State Sen. Hank Erwin, who ran for Alabama Lt. Governor and didn’t seek re-election in Senate District 14.
The sign also features the Top 5 peach growers from June’s Peach Auction.
Lions Club members hope the extra publicity draws more interest in next year’s auction.
“We want to get more participation with our peach growers, this year, said Tom Brown, Peach Festival chairman for the Lions Club.
Brown also wanted to thank Keith, Diane and Jimmy Easterling; Joe and Michelle Headley; Ben Tucker; Herbert Moatts; and the Clanton Lions Club for making the sign possible again this year.
