James Earl Gentry, 69, of Marbury passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Sept. 6, 2010, surrounded by his loved ones.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 9 at 11 a.m. at Gillead Chapel in Prattville with the Rev. Leroy Gentry, the Rev. Charles Gentry, the Rev. Ervin Gentry and the Rev. J.L. Gentry officiating. Burial will follow in Shoal Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Deatsville with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing.
Mr. Gentry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who was deeply loved and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by one son, James Wesley Gentry. He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 17 years, Donna Hammonds Gentry; three daughters, Brenda (Randy) Pruett, Tammy Gentry and Christina Gentry; five sons, Mike (Lynn) Gentry, Dan (Donna) Gentry, Willie (Katie) Gentry, Tim (Emily) Gentry and Jared Gentry; 22 grandchildren, Jamie, David, Rachel and Jake Pruett; Britney and Kim Wilson; Chase and Josh Gentry; Mandy Venable; Amber McQueen; Justin, Jason, Tyler and Jennifer Gentry; Shelby Gentry; Elizabeth, Scott, Wayne, Dylan, Miranda and Charles Gentry; and Jeremiah Abbott; four great grandchildren; a host of other loved ones too many to mention; and many, many friends.
Pallbearers will be James Benz, Milton Allen, Page Allen, Kenny Williams, Jerry Grantham and Wayne Horton.
The family extends warm appreciation to the staff of Wiregrass Hospice for their excellence in care and compassion during Mr. Gentry’s illness.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Wednesday evening from 5-7 and a second visitation one hour prior to his service at Gillead Chapel on Thursday from 10-11 a.m.
