Dr. Robert Bentley and other conservative leaders will speak Saturday during a 9/11 rally at Jemison City Park.
Bentley, the Republican nominee for governor, will headline a list of conservative speakers, but organizers say the event will be about remembrance not politics.
“The purpose is to honor and remember those who lost their lives in 9/11 and remember the sacrifice public servants make every day,” said Margie Littleton with the Chilton County Tea Party, which is a sponsor of the event.
The program will begin at 10 a.m. with the pledge of allegiance, led by a local scout troop.
Feature speakers include Bentley, state treasurer and candidate for lieutenant governor Kay Ivey, Maplesville mayor and candidate for House seat 42 Kurt Wallace, former state treasurer George Wallace Jr., candidate for state attorney general Luther Strange and state representative Owen Drake.
Also on hand will be radio talk show personalities Matt Murphy and Michael Hart. Reigning Miss Jefferson County Anna Laura Bryan will provide music.
A special program during the rally’s last hour from noon until 1 p.m. will honor local police officers and firefighters for the work they do.
