“Let not your heart be troubled:  ye believed in God, believe also in me.  In my Father’s house are many mansions:  if it were not so, I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.  And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.  Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:1-6).

Thought for the week:     “This Is All I Ask”
“Lord, show me the way I can somehow repay the blessings you’ve given to me…, Lord, teach me to do what you most want me to do and to be what you want me to be…  I’m unworthy I know but I do love you so – I beg you to answer my plea… I’ve not much to give but as long as I live may I give it completely.”
Brother Shunn Bailey will preach his first trial sermon on Sunday, Aug. 29 at 3 p.m. at Holly Grove Baptist Church in Jemison.  His theme will be “Answering the Call” (Exodus 3:1-10). He is also an instructional aide teacher at Billingsley High School. The Rev. Dukes is pastor. Everyone is invited.
Worship service at Holly Grove Baptist Church in Jemison began with prayer, scripture, songs and testimony by the praise team.  The scripture was read by Perry Nunn with prayer by Pastor Dukes, Willie Nunn and Kevin Nunn.  Songs sung included “Amazing Grace,” “Lord We Need You Right Now” and “I Never Lost My Praise.”
The morning message was given by Pastor Dukes with his theme:  “God Will Fight Our Battles.”  Christians have staying power; they won’t let people break them if they are standing on God’s word.  Victory today is theirs.  The people got upset with Moses because it did not rain.  Moses struck the rock and people’s needs were met.  Enemies come when you are physically weak; you don’t know your leader until it’s time to fight.  You find out what you have to bring success to the Church.  The Church follows the leader’s instructions.  Moses told Joshua to get men to fight.  God will fight your battles.  Joshua stuck with Moses even through bad times.  Don’t question God’s word and cause discord among the people. Moses did not fight but held up God’s word; we need leaders to hold up God’s word.
The service concluded with the benediction by Pastor Dukes.
On our sick list this week we ask you to remember in your prayers:  Sam and Vivian Hicks, Joseph McCall, Stanley Frazier, Nathaniel Shortridge, Hellen Sneed, Lee Anna Worthey, Robert Spence, Lane Floyd and Bertha Gates.  May God heal, strengthen and keep them in His care is our prayer.
