Clanton man dies in Sunday morning wreck

The victim of a fatal vehicle crash Sunday morning was identified as Edward Lee Chandler, 86, of Clanton.
Chandler was pronounced dead on the scene at 10:20 a.m. following a two-vehicle wreck near the intersection of Chilton County Road 43 and Alabama Highway 145 north of Clanton.
According to Alabama State Troopers, the vehicle Chandler was driving, a 2001 Toyota Corolla, was traveling southeast on 43 and had stopped at the intersection. When the vehicle pulled out onto 145, it was struck by a southbound 1999 Toyota RAV4.
Troopers, along with Chilton County Sheriff’s Deputies and Gap of the Mountain Fire Department, were dispatched to the scene at 9:35 a.m. Chilton County Coroner Randy Yeargan was also on the scene.
No passengers were listed on the trooper report as traveling in the Corolla. Any other injuries were minor, Yeargan said.
Chandler was a retired pastor.
Martin Funeral Home is handling funeral services, which are scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 31 at 11 a.m. at Cane Creek Baptist Church. Friends will be received Monday, Aug. 30 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel from 5-8 p.m.
