The Clanton City Council amended the city’s building code Monday to establish a five-member board to hear appeals concerning the city’s building regulations and requirements.

Mayor Billy Joe Driver said the board would hear appeals of people who have issues with the city’s building codes.

“If there is any conflict whatsoever, they can appeal it to this board, Driver said.

In other business, the council took the following actions Monday night:

*Approved a resolution that would require organizations of tournaments at City Park to clean the park after their event or risk losing their deposit.

After some [tournaments] they are very clean, but after some they are terrible,” Councilman Jeff Price said.

The change goes into effect Jan. 1, 2011.

The next Clanton City Council meeting will be Monday, Aug. 23 at 5 p.m. at Clanton City Hall.
