Thorsby’s Movies in the Park will continue this Friday night at Richard Wood Park with the showing of the Walt Disney movie “G-Force.”
The movie is about a trained squad of guinea pigs on a mission to stop a diabolical millionaire from taking over the world. The movie will begin showing at 8 p.m., but families may arrive as early as 6 p.m.
The weekly event was originally scheduled through the end of June but was extended. Thorsby Fire Chief Lee Gunn said he hopes to show another movie next week, but plans are not yet confirmed.
“Bring your family and enjoy a great night out,” Gunn said.
The Thorsby Diner will have concessions available for purchase. Also, those in attendance may sign up to have a free smoke detector installed in their home. The detectors are available to all Chilton County residents through a state grant.
Residents may obtain up to one smoke detector for every bedroom, as well as one for each floor of their home. Members of the fire department will be on hand for anyone who wants to sign up.
Gunn explained that a member of the Thorsby Fire Department is required to install the detectors. Installation is performed free of charge. The department will also provide follow-up inspections.
This is the second year for Movies in the Park, which has drawn up to 300 people on some weeks.
“As long as we can keep people coming out, we’ll be doing it,” Gunn said.
