North Chilton Fire Department and Providence No. 1 Baptist Church are co-sponsoring a drug awareness program to be held Sunday, June 27 at 6:30 p.m.
Members of the Chilton County Sheriff’s Department will make an hour-long presentation in the church sanctuary that is open to the public. The presentation will focus on the dangers of meth and other drugs, and how they affect people.
“If we could just stop one person from getting on it or help one person get off of it, it would be worth our time,” said church pastor Allen Foster. “It would make our community better, and hopefully we can.”
A similar event was conducted at North Chilton Fire Department for public safety officials. A church member who attended the program thought the information would be beneficial to the community.
Youth groups from surrounding churches including Rock Springs and Oak Grove have been invited to view the presentation. The program will be held in place of the regular worship service.
Foster encourages anyone who is interested to attend.
“We’ve invited anyone who wants to come. We would like to have a church full,” Foster said.
Providence No. 1 Baptist Church is located at 190 County Road 46 between Jemison and Montevallo and may be reached at (205) 668-1270.
