Junior Miss Peach contestants got the star treatment Monday evening as they gathered at Nail Star in Clanton for a nails party.

There are more than 20 young women participating in the Junior Miss category, which includes ages 12-14. The party followed the first of two practices this week in preparation for the Junior Miss Peach Pageant scheduled for Tuesday, June 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the Chilton County High School auditorium.

The contestants got to socialize, pick out a color and have their nails painted.

“It kind of takes some of the stress off,” said Junior Miss Peach 2009 Jill Vinzant.

Earlier that afternoon, Vinzant took time to give each contestant a few helpful tips on things like posture and conducting interviews.

On Tuesday, the Young Miss Peach contestants will have a cupcake party at the Helen Parrish Activity Center.

Petals from the Past in Jemison will host the Little Miss Peach event on Wednesday, and the Miss contestants will hold a skate party Friday night.
