Jemison softball on Friday lost its season opener, 10-2, against visiting Marbury.

The Bulldogs struck for four runs in the bottom of the second inning and were never threatened, even when Jemison’s Codi Mims laced a base hit that scored two runs.

“We played a good defensive game; we just couldn’t put the bat on the ball,” Jemison coach Leighsa Robinson said.

The Panthers junior varsity was victorious, however, claiming a 15-3 win.

Katie Hayes, Shelby Griffin, Jennifer Scott, Morgan Lucas and Courtney Burnett all scored two runs for Jemison.

Griffin and Amelia Baker both hit triples.
