Chilton County golf won its season opener on Thursday despite the cold weather and playing on Sylacauga’s home course.

The Tigers scored 162 to Sylacauga’s 164, based on the top four varsity golfers on nine holes.

“We’ve been practicing in it for the last three weeks, so they’re used to it,” coach Brian Carter said about temperatures in the low-40s. “I think we played well.”

Blake Jenkins and Forrest Knight were CCHS’s top scorers. Both shot a 4-over 40.

Both Grantland Karn and Ivan Truss shot a 41.
