A Tuesday morning blaze gutted a mobile home in Clanton.

No one was at home or injured during the fire that destroyed a home in Martin Court off Enterprise Road.

The fire started shortly after 9 a.m. The home’s owner had left the residence minutes before.

Fire Chief David Driver said the cause of the fire is still under investigation. The department’s fire marshal will make that determination in coming days, Driver said.

The fire chief said it’s difficult seeing anyone lose his or her home, but that’s especially hard around Christmas. A charred Christmas tree could be seen from the front door as people tried to salvage what they could, including wrapped presents.

“It’s bad anytime, but especially this time of year,” said Driver.
