Twelve Chilton County student-athletes have been chosen to compose The Clanton Advertiser’s first All-Academic Team.
The honor is significant because it is based on both athletic and academic excellence and because only two students, one boy and one girl, were chosen from each county school.
Nominations, which were limited to students at the high school level during the 2008-09 academic year, were made by school principals.
Nominations were expected to play a significant role in their respective athletic squads, but more emphasis was placed on their academic achievements.
Along with the picture of each selection are the grade the student was in during the 2008-09 academic year, the sports the student participated in, a cumulative GPA and a non-exhaustive list of extracurricular activities other than sports.
