Against competition mostly from classes 5A and 6A, Maplesville’s 7-on-7 football team went 4-2 in a camp July 7 at Gulf Shores.
The Red Devils defeated Robertsdale, 26-21; Baldwin County High, 26-14; J.U. Blacksher, 27-6; and Foley B, 26-6; and lost to Daphne, 19-14; and Gulf Shores, 26-21.
In both losses, Maplesville had possession of the football with a chance to win when time ran out.
“Offensively, we probably did better than we have all summer,” coach Brent Hubbert said. “Our receivers ran better routes and caught the balls that they should have.”
