Sometimes technology can help a situation even when it is not intended to. Such was the case Tuesday, when a suspected kidnapping case that began in Virginia came to an end in Clanton.

When U.S. Marshals found that one of the suspected kidnappers had used their cell phone in the area, the Chilton County Sheriff’s Department became involved and located the suspects’ vehicle at local trailer park. The two suspects were arrested and awaiting their extradition hearing as of Wednesday.

The 11-year-old child, allegedly kidnapped from a state foster home, was taken into protective custody by the Department of Human Resources.

What we should realize is that no matter where an incident begins, it could end here in Chilton County. For that reason, it’s good to be aware of all amber alerts and missing person cases that are reported.
