TROY – Junior infielder Kala Moore has been named a member of the District 4 All-Academic team as announced by ESPN the Magazine and CoSIDA.
Moore, a second-team selection, becomes the first Troy softball player to receive the honor. The distinction adds to her season accolades, as it comes on the heels of the Verbena native also being named a second team All-Sun Belt Conference selection earlier this week.
“I am extremely proud of Kala and the hard work she puts in both in the classroom and on the field. She is very deserving of this honor. Her dedication to academics helps her serve as a great role model for her teammates as well as youth in the region,” Troy head coach Melanie Davis said.
The hard work in both areas is displayed by Moore’s 3.62 grade point average. She is majoring in mathematics with the goal of one day becoming an educator.
Her on-field performance this season has also been impressive. Moore currently leads Troy with a .356 batting average. She also leads the Sun Belt Conference with 31 stolen bases on the year.
