Billingsley’s softball team went 2-2 Tuesday in its area tournament, good enough to earn the Bears a berth in the regional round of the state playoffs.

The top two teams in each area advance to a region tournament, and Billingsley finished second to area tournament host Sweet Water.

The Bears defeated Autaugaville 19-1 and 29-3 but lost to the Bulldogs 8-0 and 11-1.

Wendy Raines was the winning pitcher in both games against Autaugaville, and Billingsley coach Nathan Thompson said both Crystal Motley and Rachel Willis had good days at the plate.
