Carver-Montgomery missed 14 of 16 free throw attempts in the first half Friday. Chilton County High countered by missing lay-ups the whole game.
Utilizing an aggressive defense partly because Carver couldn’t make free throws, The Tigers (10-8, 0-5 area) stayed close but let too many opportunities slip away in a 62-50 loss.
The hosts weren’t much better from the charity stripe, converting only two attempts.
CCHS briefly held the lead when Josh Williams sank a 15-foot jump shot with 1:01 left in the first half, but the Wolverines (14-5, 4-1) scored again before the break and never trailed again.
Vincent Olanrewaju led Chilton with 17 points, and Carver’s Randi Tucker had a game-high 18 points.
