MONTGOMERY — Two Republican Party veterans have taken leadership roles in Tim James’ campaign for governor.

James announced Wednesday that Bill Armistead will serve as the campaign’s regional director for the Birmingham area and Stan McDonald will be regional director for the Tennessee Valley.

Armistead is a former state senator from Columbiana. He was the Republican nominee for lieutenant governor in 2002.

McDonald served as state revenue commissioner in Gov. Guy Hunt’s Cabinet. He has been a congressional candidate in north Alabama and has worked in many campaigns.

James said Armistead and McDonald will organize grass-roots support.
