The county basketball tournament games scheduled for tonight have been cancelled because of the threat of severe weather, School Superintendent Keith Moore said.

Chilton County is under a tornado watch, and severe weather is expected between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

So, tonight’s games will be moved to Wednesday at their scheduled times. Chilton County High’s and Thorsby’s B-teams will play at 4:30 p.m., followed by Chilton County High and Jemison in girls action at 6 p.m. and Jemison and Verbena in boys varsity action at 7:30 p.m.

Moore said a representative from the National Weather Service recommended the cancellation.
